Persons of interest to identify in York Street homicide

(Ottawa) – The Homicide Unit is seeking public assistance to identify two persons of interest in the shooting on York Street that left a 20-year-old male dead and another one injured.

Shooting investigation in Sandy Hill: police seeking witnesses

(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service Guns and Gangs Unit is investigating a shooting that occurred this past Friday evening in the area of Sweetland Avenue and Osgoode Street.
At approximately 11:20pm on July 2, 2021, frontline officers attended the area and located a 32 year old man that had been shot. He sustained serious injuries but is currently in stable condition.

Arson Unit seeking assistance into fire investigations in Blackburn

(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service Arson Unit is seeking the public’s help into an investigation of a series of fires that occurred in the 2300 block of Orient Park Drive and 2700 block of Innes Road yesterday morning.
At approximately 1:00am on June 29th, frontline officers responded to three separate small garbage fires. They were all extinguished and there was minor property damage.

Semi Annual Hate Crimes data showing a 32% increase in reporting to police

(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service Hate and Bias Crime Unit released its Semi Annual statistics showing an increase of 32.9% in hate crime reports in 2021 – from 79 cases to 105 cases – compared to the same time last year.
As well, the Unit determined that 73 reported incidents this year were hate-motivated, this represents an increase of 25.9% from 2020.
