(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Arson Unit has charged an individual responsible for two dumpster fires on William Street earlier this week.
At approximately 3:00 am Monday morning, Ottawa Fire Services attended the 1-100 block of William Street, where flames were seen coming from dumpsters.

Bike Initiative: Results of Bike Theft survey of victims

(Ottawa) — Last year, the Ottawa Police Service D Platoon ByWard Market team completed a Bike Initiative, recovering 56 bikes, and also conducted a survey with 60 persons who had been victims of a bike theft.
Here are the survey results:
- 43 of the 60 persons polled (71.7%) said that their bike was locked when it was stolen, while 17 (28.3%) said their bike was unlocked.

Suspect to identify in two commercial robberies in Orleans

(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit is seeking public assistance to identify a suspect responsible for two robberies in the 1900 block of Trim Road.
At approximately 5:00 am on January 7 and at approximately 3:30 am on January 10, the suspect entered the store armed with a firearm and made demands for cash and cigarettes. He then left the area on foot.

Fatal Collision on Highway 174 near Peter Harkness Lane

(Ottawa) —The Ottawa Police Service Fatal Collision Unit is investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Wednesday January 10th.
At approximately 5:30 pm, officers were called to reports of a two-vehicle collision on the 174 near Peter Harkness Lane.
One of the drivers, an 85-year-old man succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The other driver was transported to the hospital with non-threatening injuries.
