New NRT begins mid-August in the Bayshore area

(Ottawa)—The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) is pleased to announce that it will be launching its fifth Neighbourhood Resource Team (NRT), this one in the Bayshore area starting August 17th.

Shooting Investigation on Fernbank Road: Seeking witnesses

(Ottawa) – Frontline officers responded to a call about a possible shooting in the area of Fernbank Road and Eagleson Road last night.
At approximately 8:40 pm, a vehicle pulled up beside another vehicle that was stopped and fired shots at it. The suspect vehicle then drove away. No one was injured.
The suspect vehicle is described as a dark SUV.

Kids were Skeptical but Officer Finds their Stolen Bikes

Three brothers whose bikes were stolen a month ago have them back, thanks to an officer who stopped to chat with them.
On July 23, Ottawa Police Cst. Troy Forgie was patrolling on bike in the Bayshore area when a young resident showed him a ‘pop-a-wheelie’. When the boy challenged him to do one, Cst. Forgie showed him another trick he calls the ‘two-wheel bunny hop’ a jump with both tires off the ground at the same time. The boy was impressed, as were three other boys watching from nearby.

Last month, Ottawa Fire Services Sector Chief Bill Bell saved a woman after her car landed in the Ottawa River and she was unable to escape. In the fifteen minutes leading up to her rescue, Ottawa Police 911 Communications staff tried to locate the woman so they could send help, while racing against time as her car filled with water. Shooting investigation on Pinecrest Road - police seeking witnesses

(Ottawa) – Frontline officers responded to a possible shooting in the 800 block of Pinecrest Road early this morning.
At approximately 4:19am, someone heard a gunshot and also heard a vehicle drive away. Responding officers located a shell casing as well as damage to a home. No one was injured.
The Guns and Gangs Unit is looking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the incident.
