OPS Tactical Unit first Canadians to participate in Dubai international SWAT competition

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) Tactical Unit is a group of specially-trained officers who respond to more than 100 high risk incidents each year. This could be anything from a warrant execution to a hostage situation.
To ensure they are fit in every way to deal with situations most of us would run from, tactical officers train every day.

Man charged with Sexual Assault

(Ottawa) – Today, the Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit (SACA) charged a man in relation to two separate incidents that occurred in November 2019 and February 2020.
Sergio NESBIT, 37 years old of Ottawa, was charged with one count each, of:
- Sexual Assault,
- Aggravated Sexual Assault and
- Forcible confinement
He is scheduled to appear in court.
Investigators believe there could be other victims.

Marine Dive Trail officers conducted RIDE programs again this weekend

(Ottawa) – Marine Dive Trail (MDT) officers were out on the trails again this weekend, focusing on impaired drivers.
At a RIDE checkpoint on the trailhead at South-North Gower/Richmond, a total of 29 vehicles were stopped on Friday night. While there were no charges laid, police encountered two snowmobile operators who tried to evade police by avoiding the checkpoint.

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse (SACA) Section has charged a man with sexual assault in relation to an incident that occurred in 2006.
In April 2006, a teenage girl was walking alone in the area of Dakota Avenue and Carnegie Street when she was sexually assaulted by a man she did not know.

Sub-ice training gives Ottawa Police dive team elite water rescue skills

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) Marine Dive Trail (MDT) Unit got a unique opportunity to do some sub-ice diving in Quebec City earlier this month.
They were one of two police organizations invited to the three-day training session organized by the Experimental Diving Underwater Group.
