On October 31, officers were dispatched to a 911 call where a man was threatening to hang himself from a third floor fire escape.
Officers arrived to find a man in his 30’s securing an extension cord to the rail, the other end tied tightly around his neck.
One of the officers engaged the man in conversation from the ground, to which the man responded there was nothing he could say or do to stop him from jumping.

(Ottawa)— Ottawa Police Guns and Gangs investigators are seeking witnesses in relation to the shooting in the 1300 block of Meadowlands Drive that occurred this past Wednesday.

Blog: Police visit to couple’s home changes how they treat one another

A call to police by a concerned neighbour about a loud argument in the apartment next door resulted in an overwhelmed couple finding new ways to cope.
The call in late October was taken by Sgt. Jeff Simpson, a 20-year vet of the Ottawa Police Service. “First of all, I commend the neighbour who called police immediately so we could deal with it. You never know when a simple argument can escalate into something more serious.”

Right Place, Right Time: Neighbourhood team stops Crime in Progress

The new Neighbourhood Resource Team (NRT) nabbed a hit and run suspect with the help of Patrol and Traffic officers as well as members of the public.
They were working in Vanier at 12:30 pm Tuesday when a 911 call came in for a hit and run collision on Montreal Rd. A vehicle traveling westbound had turned suddenly in front of an eastbound car and the driver took off before police arrived.
The NRT, along with Traffic and Patrol officers, searched the area and located the suspect vehicle abandoned....
