Officer’s quick actions saves man’s life from overdose

Purple fentanyl and other dangerous drugs continue to fuel overdoses in our community.
Last evening at about 5 pm Cst. Andrea Cohen and Sgt. Ian Matyas were on duty when they received a medical call at a business on Bank Street.
As the first emergency responders to arrive, they found a 41-year-old man on the bathroom floor, unconscious, with labored breathing. He appeared to be suffering a drug overdose.
Cst. Cohen administered two doses of Narcan and then both officers started CPR. The man...

Elderly Driver gets roadside assistance from officers

When 77 year old Tim Fauquier dropped his wife at her salon appointment in New Edinburgh last Saturday afternoon, the last thing he expected to happen was that a police officer would be changing his tire.
“I had just gone through the traffic circle at the Governor General’s residence when I heard a pop, pop, pop sound,” said Mr. Fauquier.
The retired overseas fraud investigator put his hazard lights on and waited for roadside assistance.

Officer in the right place at the right time saves man’s life

Cst. Chris Powers, a 3-year veteran of the Ottawa Police Service, was stopped in a line of traffic at the intersection of Montreal Road and the Aviation Parkway on October 25th at about 2:40 p.m. when another motorist flagged him about a male possibly asleep in his vehicle in a live lane of traffic.
The officer pulled over to check on the man, who was a few cars behind him. He found him slumped over in the driver’s seat. He was unresponsive and when Cst. Powers checked for a pulse, he didn’t...

It’s National Teen Driver Safety Week October 20 – 26 and a lot of new drivers fall into this age group.

(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Section (SACA) is confirming that the male involved in a suspicious incident involving a 12 year old girl last May, has been identified.
