When you first meet Jacob, you can’t help but notice his huge smile and his boundless enthusiasm for his role as an athlete representing Ottawa in the Special Olympics.

Lost in the woods

The call came in at about 4 p.m. on December 28 to the Ottawa Police Service’s (OPS) 911 Communications Centre.
The woman on the phone indicated that she and her friends were lost in the woods in rural Ottawa and could not find their way out.
The day had started bright, crisp, and sunny at -4C, but temperatures were beginning to dip, and it was expected to reach -10C by the evening.

(Ottawa) —The Ottawa Police Service Fatal Collision Unit Investigators are seeking witnesses to a fatal collision that occurred on Friday, February 24th.

(Ottawa) — Over the Family Day long weekend, officers in the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) Traffic Services Unit conducted enforcement measures in the downtown core.
“We saw a large number of drivers using their cell phones,” said Staff Sergeant Denis Hull with the Ottawa Police Traffic and Escort Unit. “It’s important to remind drivers to leave the phone alone while operating a vehicle.”
