DNA helps investigators lay a charge in 2006 Sexual Assault

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse (SACA) Section has charged a man with sexual assault in relation to an incident that occurred in 2006.
In April 2006, a teenage girl was walking alone in the area of Dakota Avenue and Carnegie Street when she was sexually assaulted by a man she did not know.
Recently, DNA sample led to the identification of a suspect.

Sub-ice training gives Ottawa Police dive team elite water rescue skills

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) Marine Dive Trail (MDT) Unit got a unique opportunity to do some sub-ice diving in Quebec City earlier this month.
They were one of two police organizations invited to the three-day training session organized by the Experimental Diving Underwater Group.

(Ottawa) – Frontline officers responded to a break and enter in progress in the 400 block of Donald Munro Drive overnight.
At approximately 2:50am, two men broke into a business to steal a large quantity of merchandise. They fled the area in a vehicle.

Man charged for uttering threat

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Hate Crime Section has charged an Ottawa man for uttering threats to damage personal property and breach of recognizance.
On Tuesday February 25th, Ottawa Police began investigating a threat that was received regarding the defacing of a religious statue on Heron Rd. Following the investigation, Lance CROSSLEY, 48 years old, was charged with uttering a threat to damage property and breach of a recognizance.
He is scheduled to appear in Court today.
