The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) has several unsolved cases requiring additional information from witnesses or anyone who knows something about them.
Anyone with information about these cases is asked to contact 613-236-1222, extension 5477.

For some cases, the OPS is offering rewards of up to $75,000 CAD for information on unsolved files which lead to an arrest(s) and prosecution(s).

$75,000 Reward offered in Ashton Dickson homicide investigation
On June 26th, 2017, 25-year-old Ashton Dickson was killed outside of a nightclub located at 470 Rideau Street. Police believe that an altercation began in the club in the bathroom line and continued into the street, where Ashton was shot in front of a dozen people. The OPS has been searching for anyone with information about what occurred that night or who may have witnessed the crime.
Since June 2020, the OPS has offered a reward of up to $75,000 for information leading to the arrest of Ashton Dickson’s killer.

VanDame Munga, November 23, 2023 |
In the early morning hours of November 23rd, 2023, police responded to Draffin Court in response to a shooting. Police arrived to discover 28-year-old VanDame Munga, a father and aspiring rapper, had been fatally shot. A second man, a close friend of VanDame’s, was also shot multiple times and narrowly survived his injuries. Although many were present for the party that resulted in VanDame’s fatal shooting, few provided information to police.

Abdishakur Abdi-Dahi and Said Ali, September 2, 2023 |
On September 2nd, 2023, 26-year-old Said Ali and 29-year-old Abdishakur Abdi-Dahi were amongst a group of individuals standing in the parking lot of the Infinity Centre at 2901 block Gibford Drive, waiting to celebrate a wedding. Without warning, gunmen opened fire on the crowd. Said and Abdishakur were fatally wounded, and other bystanders were shot and severely wounded. This case is still open and being actively investigated. We know that there were people at the wedding that can help, who have information that could further the investigation, but these people are unwilling to co-operate and speak with police. |
Granit Ahmeti, August 19, 2023 |
On Saturday, August 19th, 2023 at approximately 3:40 am, police responded to a shooting on Farmers Way. 26-year-old Granit Ahmeti, who was suffering from gunshot wounds, was found on the side of the road near his tow truck. Granit was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. |
Warsama Youssouf, May 30, 2021 |
On May 30th, 2021, at 12:46 a.m., 27-year-old Warsama Youssouf, was seated in a vehicle with friends in a strip mall parking lot on Meadowbrook and Cyrville Road. The vehicle was approached by unidentified individuals who shot Warsama. Despite the first responders’ first aid, Warsama succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. |
Abdulqadir Yusuf, May 26, 2021 |
On the evening of May 26th, 2021, 22-year-old Abdulqadir Yusuf was found shot to death in his vehicle in Ottawa’s east end. It is believed that Yusuf was shot in the early hours of May 26th. The investigators are asking anyone with information to contact the Homicide Unit or Crime Stoppers. |
Leo Santostefano, March 7, 2021 |
In the afternoon of March 6th, 2021, 40-year-old Leo Santostefano was seen at a residence on Iris Street in Ottawa. In the early morning hours of March 7th, 2021, Leo’s body was found near a recreational trail in rural southwest Ottawa. |
Dominico Tersigni, January 12, 2021 |
On January 12th, 2021, 17-day-old Dominico Tersigni was found deceased at his family residence. The follow up investigation determined that Dominico’s death was a homicide. Ashor Anwia, November 27, 2019 |
On November 27th, 2019, at 2:48 p.m., the OPS received reports of shots fired in Ted Grant Private and Woodbury Crescent. Officers attended the area where a man was located deceased in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. The man was identified as 24-year-old Ashor Anwia. The Investigation revealed that moments before shots were reported, Anwia drove onto Ted Grant Private. It is unknown why he was shot while sitting in his vehicle. Anwia attempted to drive away from the scene but succumbed to his injuries soon after. The identity of the shooter(s) remains unknown. |
Yonis Barkhadle, November 23, 2018 |
On November 23rd, 2018, at approximately 6:26 p.m., 27-year-old Yonis Barkhadle was with a friend eating at a restaurant in the South Keys Shopping Centre. As Yonis and his friend were returning to the friend’s vehicle, a dark sedan pulled up and a man exited. The man approached Yonis, pulled out a firearm, and fired several shots at Yonis. Yonis was struck and killed by gunfire.

Guled Ahmed, October 29, 2018 |
In the early morning hours of October 29th, 2018, the Ottawa Police Service responded to Carruthers Avenue near Scott Street in response to multiple 911 calls for gunshots. 23-year-old Guled Ahmed was at the rear of a residence with gunshot wounds. It is believed that the shooter either followed Guled to the location or lay in wait for him to return before firing several shots at him, resulting in his death. |
Opiny P'Ochieng, May 5, 2018 |
On May 5th, 2018, 49-year-old Opiny P'Ochieng was socializing with friends at various establishments on Montreal Road. A review of the various establishments showed the night was uneventful and Opiny was not involved in any sort of altercation. As the night ended, Opiny left his friends and walked alone to a nearby convenience store where he purchased a few items. At approximately 2:50 a.m., Opiny was last seen walking east in the 300 block of Montreal Rd. A short time later, a driver called 911 reporting a dead body in the 2200 block of Russell Rd. |
Egal Daud, February 18, 2018 |
On February 18th, 2018, 30-year-old Egal Daud was found deceased in a vehicle on Northview Road. Egal had been shot. His family hadn’t heard from him since February 5th, when he was going to meet some acquaintances. Egal was reported missing before he was located. All known witnesses were spoken to at the time. Public tips were followed up by investigators. The OPS is asking anyone with information who may not have spoken to police to reach out. The OPS is offering a reward of up to $75,000 for information leading to an arrest in the Egal’s homicide investigation. |
Tarek Dakhil, January 9, 2018 |
On January 9th, 2018, 23-year-old Tarek Dakhil was at home in the 3000 block of Paul Anka Drive when he received a call. The caller indicated they were at Tarek’s door waiting to speak to him. Tarek proceeded outside where two males were waiting for him. One male produced a firearm and subsequently shot Tarek as he tried to run away. The two males fled in a waiting SUV-style vehicle. |
Esmail Sharifi, July 31, 2017 |
On July 31st, 2017, 36-year-old Esmail Sharifi was sitting in his coworker’s tow truck at 2750 Iris Street waiting for the next call. While Esmail was sitting in the passenger seat, a vehicle pulled into the parking lot, the driver exited the car and proceeded to shoot Esmail. The shooter returned to the car and drove away. Police believe the suspect(s) fled the scene in a dark coloured sedan and travelled eastbound on Iris Street following the homicide. |

Mary Papatsie, last seen late-April 2017 |
On June 3rd, 2017, 39-year-old Mary Papatsie a vulnerable Inuk woman was reported missing to the Ottawa Police Service. The following investigation revealed Mary was last seen on April 27, 2017, in the Vanier area. On September 28, 2022, Mary’s remains were found buried behind a home on Deschamps Avenue in Vanier. Investigators believe there are people with a knowledge of what happened to Mary but are reluctant to come forward. If you have any information, please contact the Homicide Unit or Crime Stoppers. |
Leslie Mwakio, December 6, 2016 |
On December 6th, 2016, at approximately 10:42 p.m., 17-year-old Leslie Mwakio was driving in his vehicle with a friend. As Leslie approached the intersection of Bayswater Avenue and Laurel Street a black sedan pulled up next to Leslie’s vehicle and shots were fired. Leslie was struck and killed by gunfire. |
Abdirahman Jama, September 25, 2016 |
In the early morning of September 25th, 2016, patrons from an after-hours bar, Suya Spot (located on Shillington Avenue), exited the establishment and were mingling in the back parking lot. There was mention that an argument had occurred inside the bar and was possibly being carried on outside. Several gunshots were heard outside and 26-year-old Abdirahman Jama was found shot on the ground. The patrons there drove away and did not call 911. Abdirahman was eventually taken to the nearest hospital but succumbed to his gun shot injuries. |
Tarique Leger, July 10, 2016 |
On July 10, 2016, at approximately 03:53 a.m., the OPS was called to the 200-block of St Andrew Street, where 19-year-old Tarique Leger had been shot. Tarique subsequently died from his injuries. Tarique had been visiting Ottawa from Montreal with friends the July 7-10 weekend. He and his friends were staying in short-term rental residences in the Lowertown and Centretown areas of Ottawa. Several people likely encountered Tarique and his friends that weekend in various social settings at these short-term rentals. Police believe that Tarique’s murder was targeted and encourage anyone who witnessed the murder or any of the events leading up to his murder to come forward with information. |
Nicholas Kim, May 24, 2016 |
On May 24th, 2016, at 9:30 p.m., 30-year-old Nicholas Kim and a woman were shot multiple times as they exited the rear patio door of a residence situated in the 2700 block of Farriers Lane. Attending officers and paramedics provided first aid to both victims on scene. Nicholas died of his injuries, while the woman survived. Surveillance video captured two men walking toward the area of the residence prior to the shooting and running away after the incident. The two men remain unidentified. |
Nooredin Hassan, March 8, 2016 |
On March 8th, 2016, at 7:23 p.m., OPS officers responded to a call regarding a person being shot on Jasmine Crescent and Ogilvie Road and found 20-year-old Nooredin Hassan lying on the sidewalk in critical condition. Nooredin was transported to the hospital and was later pronounced deceased. The Ottawa Police Homicide Unit spoke with several witnesses and collected video footage from the area. The investigation revealed Nooredin was in a white vehicle which stopped at the traffic light on Jasmine Crescent and Ogilvie Road. Then Nooredin exited the rear of the vehicle and appeared to become involved in a struggle with another person inside the vehicle. After the struggle, Nooredin ran behind the vehicle towards the sidewalk and was shot by a male suspect. During this incident, a dark-coloured vehicle stopped behind the vehicle Nooredin was in.The OPS would like to speak with the driver of this vehicle as they may have information that could assist with this case. |
Taylor Morrow-Flint, February 24, 2016 |
On February 24th, 2016, two men arrived at a residence on Ritchie Street asking for the whereabouts of 20-year-old Taylor Morrow-Flint. The men were let into the residence and proceeded to the kitchen area where Taylor was located. One man was armed with a handgun and subsequently shot Taylor multiple times. Following the shooting, the two men fled the residence from the back door and were last seen running on Ritchie Street towards Carling Avenue. |
Marwan Arab, January 31, 2016 |
On January 31st, 2016, in the early morning hours, the Ottawa Police Service responded to reports of a shooting inside a restaurant on Cobden Road. On scene, officers and paramedics found two gunshot victims, 20-year-old Marwan Arab and another man. Marwan did not survive his injuries, while the second man recovered. Both victims were confronted and shot by a suspect armed with a firearm who had entered the front door of the restaurant. |
Malik Adjokatcher, May 14, 2013 |
During the evening of Tuesday, May 14th 2013, Malik “Shylock” Adjokatcher was shot outside 119 Ritchie Street in Ottawa. Malik ran from his attacker to a nearby house, but he later died of his injuries. The Ottawa Police are offering a $50,000 reward to anyone with information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the suspect(s) responsible for Malik’s murder.
