$25K Reward offered in the fatal hit and run of Michael Morlang
(Ottawa)—The Ottawa Police Service is announcing a $25,000 Reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the person(s) responsible in the fatal hit and run of Michael Morlang on August 11, 2013 on Frank Kenny Road, in Ottawa.
“Close to 100 tips that have been received by investigators to date, but a suspect has yet to be identified,” said Sgt. Walter McIlquham, Collision Investigations Unit, Ottawa Police Service. “We are offering a reward knowing that someone somewhere has information about the driver responsible for this fatal collision. We urge you to come forward and help us bring justice and closure to Michael’s family.”
This has been a difficult journey for Michael’s family, friends and colleagues.
“We are asking that anyone with information about the fatal hit and run that took the life of our son Michael on Sunday August 11, 2013 to please come forward,” said Brian Visneskie and Kathryn Morlang, parents of Michael. “For the last two and a half years, we have not been able to move on with our lives. We have no closure. The person responsible for Michael's death has lived the last two and a half years without ever taking any responsibility for their actions. Michael always found the good in people and it hurts knowing that someone out there may have the information needed to solve this crime and has yet to come forward. With the announcement of this reward, we, Michael's family and the Ottawa Police are hoping that someone will come forward with new information that will help solve Michael's case.”
Anyone with information about this matter is asked to contact Det. Lianne McAughey of the Ottawa Police Service Collision Investigation Section at 613-236-1222, ext. 2481 or Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS) or by downloading the Ottawa Police app.
