Arson, Break and Enter and Conspiracy charges laid in relation to a fire on Canotek Road
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Thursday, June 13, 2024 10:55 am
(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service Arson Unit has identified and charged two individuals following a fire at a commercial business in the 5300 block of Canotek Road on February 21st, 2024.
At approximately 11:00 pm, the accused individuals attended the business, broke in, and set a fire which caused upwards of $1,000,000 in damage.
Two men, Edward AYOUB, 46-years-old and Hamade AL MOUHAMAD AL RAHMOU, 24-years-old, both of Ottawa, have been charged with:
- Arson Causing Property Damage
- Possession of Incendiary Materials
- Breaking and Entering
- Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence
AL MOUHAMAD AL RAHMOU has also been charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with possession of a Schedule I substance.
They will appear in court later today.
