Charges laid in 2023 death of infant child

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Saturday, September 14^th, 2024    9:00 a.m.

(Ottawa) – The Homicide Unit has charged an adult male with second degree murder and failing to provide the necessaries of life in the tragic death of a four-month-old infant girl that occurred on May 6^th, 2023, at a residence on Genest Street in the Vanier area of the city.    

The charges arise out of a sixteen-month investigation by the Homicide Unit into the death of one of the most vulnerable members of our community.   

The adult accused is identified as Ahmed MASHKOR, 30-years-old, of Ottawa.

He is scheduled to appear in court today.
