Charges laid in ByWard Market Arson

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Arson Unit has charged an individual responsible for two dumpster fires on William Street earlier this week.

At approximately 3:00 am Monday morning, Ottawa Fire Services attended the 1-100 block of William Street, where flames were seen coming from dumpsters.

The initial frontline patrol investigation determined that the fires were intentionally set. The suspect was identified, located, and arrested only hours after the incident.

Sunshine MADELEY, 44 years old, of Ottawa, has been charged with Arson to Property (x 2), and possession of an incendiary device.

MADELEY remains in custody.
