Charges laid in Centretown Stabbing
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Tuesday, August 22, 2023 12:55 pm
(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service Central Criminal Investigations Unit has charged a man following a stabbing yesterday near Bank and Gloucester Street.
At approximately 1:10 pm, officers responded to the area and located a man and a woman with stab wounds.
Both victims were transported to hospital, where they remain with serious injuries.
James GEMMILL, 61 years old, of Ottawa has been charged with:
- Attempted murder
- Assault with a weapon
- Assault causing bodily harm
- Possession of a weapon for committing an offence
- Breaching conditions
GEMMILL is scheduled to appear in court today.
The Ottawa Police Service would like to thank the members of the public that stopped to render first aid to the victims and assisted officers with the arrest of GEMMILL.
