Charges laid in Hate-Motivated incident at Transitway

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service Hate and Bias Crime Unit has charged an individual in relation to an assault in the area of Lees Avenue and the Transitway.
On May 28th, the accused assaulted three youth and an OC Transpo Special Constable. Racial slurs were made during this incident.
The 46-year-old woman of Ottawa has been charged with:
- Assault with a Weapon
- Harassment by threatening conduct
- Mischief x3
- Assault x2
- Uttering threats
- Assaulting a peace officer
She is scheduled to appear at show cause court on June 15th.
We continue to encourage anyone who witnesses or experiences such incidents to report them to police. Reporting hate-motivated incidents is an important step in stopping cycles of hatred.
