Charges laid in Hate-Motivated incident

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service Hate and Bias Crime Unit has charged an individual in relation to harassment and a threatening phone call to a religious leader.

At approximately 3:30 pm on November 3rd, officers commenced an investigation when a complaint was received. The suspect was identified and arrested on November 4^th.

The 29-year-old man has been charged with various hate-motivated offences and he is scheduled to appear in court today.

We continue to encourage anyone who witnesses or experiences such incidents to report them to police. We will prosecute those who commit hate crimes to the full extent of the law.

Hate has no place in our city.
