Commercial Motor Vehicle enforcement results
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Monday, December 11, 2017 4:50 pm
(Ottawa)–The Ministry of Transportation, the Ontario Provincial Police and Ottawa Police Service conducted a one-day proactive commercial motor vehicle blitz in the city’s west end.
The enforcement campaign, which took place today, focused on commercial motor vehicle safety and their drivers and was conducted by three CVSA-certified commercial motor vehicle inspectors as well as 4 traffic officers.
As a result, 22 charges were laid, including vehicle maintenance, insecure load, distracted driving and moving violations.
Some of the more severe offences included several bald tires on two different commercial motor vehicles pulling trailers as well as the transportation of dangerous goods insecurely.
Ottawa residents have identified traffic safety as a top priority. We can often find a vast variety of commercial motor vehicles throughout the city and the Ottawa Police Service will continue to make sure that the roads are safe for residents.
