Community-Police Award Recipient Justin
We recently held our annual Community-Police Awards ceremony and want to introduce you to the recipients this week.
In January 2019, Justin Villeneuve was just 12 years old when he was walking through a park and noticed a man lying in the snow who appeared to have collapsed. Amazingly, Justin began CPR but was unable to immediately revive the man. He ran home to alert his mother of the situation who called 9-1-1. Justin led his mother and the paramedics back to the location where the man was found so emergency responders could take over.
At just 12 years old, Justin demonstrated outstanding bravery and care for a fellow citizen. For this reason, Justin was awarded the Certificate of Merit.
The Certificate of Merit is awarded to a member of the public or a member of the Ottawa Police Service for an act of unselfish assistance or demonstration of unique concern for the safety and well-being of another individual or the community.
