Cst. Amanda Munro followed in the footsteps of her father
When I was growing up, my dad was a police officer. He always said, ‘I love this job so much, helping people feel safe, some days I can’t believe I get paid for this’. He was the best example of integrity and dedication, it made me want to be an officer too. My father never suggested it wasn’t a career for women. He encouraged all four of his children to follow their dreams. I joined Ottawa Police in 2009, my brother Adam in 2011 and my sister Mallory in 2019. He was right, it’s an incredible career. Some days I think about the risks, but the fulfillment I get doing what I do far outweighs them.
