Cyclists, light up your ride
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Friday, November 1, 2024 9:55 am
(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service, Safer Roads Ottawa, Ottawa Paramedic Service, and Ottawa Fire Services have partnered to raise awareness and encourage Ottawa cyclists to light themselves up while cycling in the early evening and night.
At the upcoming Lights on Bikes event, organizers and community partners will provide free bike lights and reflective bands as well as tips for improving cyclist visibility and general road safety.
Date: Tuesday, November 5
Time: 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Location: Corktown Footbridge, Ottawa (Rideau Canal Western Pathway)
Did you know that by law, cyclists in Ontario are required to have a white light mounted on the front of their bikes and a red light or reflector on the back at night?
Safer Roads Ottawa hosts or supports several community events throughout the year, to educate the public about road safety.
