DNA helps investigators lay a charge in 2006 Sexual Assault

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse (SACA) Section has charged a man with sexual assault in relation to an incident that occurred in 2006.
In April 2006, a teenage girl was walking alone in the area of Dakota Avenue and Carnegie Street when she was sexually assaulted by a man she did not know.
Recently, DNA sample led to the identification of a suspect.
Today, the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse (SACA) Section has charged Troy John MORDY, 53 years old, of Smith Falls, with one count of Sexual Assault.
He is scheduled to appear in court today.
Investigators believe there could be other victims.
