Carp River Drowning Investigation
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Monday, June 10, 2024 9:39 am
(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service is investigating the tragic drowning death of an 11-year-old boy who was pulled from the Carp River yesterday evening.
The boy was with a friend at the Carp River Conservation Area when he somehow entered the water just before 7 p.m.
The friend called 911 and emergency workers.
A member of the public walking the trails also jumped into the water to assist.
Ottawa Firefighters located the boy in the water and immediately began CPR and life-saving measures.
Paramedics continued to attempt to revive the boy and transported him to hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
