Festive RIDE season returns
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Friday, December 2, 2022 12:02 pm
(Ottawa) — This holiday season, the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) is stepping up its RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) programs and reminding drivers to celebrate responsibly.
“Impaired driving – whether by consuming alcohol, cannabis, or drugs – is completely preventable and illegal”, says Sergeant Troy Froats with the Impaired Countermeasures Section.
We continue to work hard to address impaired driving, even more so during the festive season. With the assistance of our policing partners in the Capital Region, RIDE checkpoints will be set up throughout the City at various times during the coming days and weeks.
If you are going to be consuming alcohol or cannabis, choose an alternative to driving to ensure you get home safely. Take a bus or taxi and consider pre-planning to have a designated driver.
We can all do our part to keep our roads safe.
If you suspect someone is driving impaired, call 9-1-1.
