Five suspects to identify in Attempted Robbery in the ByWard Market
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Thursday, September 5, 2019 4:15pm
(Ottawa)—The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying five male suspects involved in an attempted robbery on Tuesday, August 20, at 7:26pm, in the area of George Street and Sussex Drive.
A male suspect approached a male in his 50s who was walking his bike, and told him that it was his bike. The victim, afraid he was about to be robbed, took out his cell phone and attempted to take a picture of the suspect. The suspect and victim started to push each other and four other male suspects ran toward the victim and assaulted him, causing facial injuries.
The first suspect is described as a Black male, 5’10” (178cm) tall. He was wearing a black and red jacket with a hoodie underneath worn over his head, black pants and white running shoes (see picture).
The second suspect is described as a Black male, 6’ (183cm) tall, with a medium build and an earring on the right ear. He was wearing a black unzipped sweater, grey T-shirt, black Adidas pants with stripes on the side and black Adidas sandals (see picture).
The third suspect is described as a Black male, 18-19 years old, 5’8” (173cm) tall with curly hair. He was wearing black clothing and carrying a brown backpack (see picture).
The fourth suspect is described as a Middle Eastern male, 19-20 years old. He was wearing a black Adidas sweater with stripes on the sleeves and light grey jeans (see picture).
The fifth suspect is described as a Black male, 19-20 years old, 5’7” (170cm) tall. He was wearing a blue sweater with red and white stripes on the sleeves, blue pants and Adidas style sandals (see picture).
A passerby assisted the victim when the males fled the area.
