Gun seized and man arrested following incident at Dundonald Park
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Friday, March 15, 2024 2:30 pm
(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service Guns and gangs Unit charged a man following an incident on March 14th involving a firearm in a public park.
Last evening at approx. 6:56pm, Frontline police responded to a call for service about a man who was brandishing a firearm at Dundonald Park, located in the 500 block of Somerset Street. The man went inside a nearby residential building on Lyon Street and a police operation commenced to arrest the suspect with the Tactical Unit.
The Guns and Gangs Unit responded to the scene and a firearm was seized. There were no reported injuries.
The Guns and Gangs Unit charged Mohamed YARE, 30 years old, of Ottawa with numerous offences including firearms, making threats and breach of conditions.
YARE is scheduled to appear in court today.
