Gun seized, man arrested by Vanier NRT

(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service Vanier Neighbourhood Resource Team (NRT) seized a loaded handgun during the arrest of a man found breaching his criminal conditions last night.
At approximately 11:50 pm, officers were on proactive patrol in the area of Montreal Road and Emond Street when they observed an individual known to them entering a licensed establishment.
The individual was on house arrest and not supposed to be outside at the time.
Officers interacted with the individual and a struggle ensued. He was placed under arrest. Upon arrest, a loaded firearm was located on him.
The Guns and Gangs Unit has charged Tyreek ANGUS, 23-years-old, of Ottawa, with:
- Use/handle/store firearm, carelessly
- Contravene section 117(h) firearms act regulation
- Possess weapon dangerous to public peace
- Carry concealed weapon
- Possess restricted or prohibited firearm without holding a licence and registration certificate
- Possess restricted or prohibited firearm knowingly not holding a licence and registration certificate
- Possess loaded regulated firearm
- Possess firearm, etc. while prohibited
- Fail to comply with release order
- Fail to comply with release order
- Assault peace or public officer
- Assault/intend to resist or prevent arrest
ANGUS is scheduled to appear in court today.
