Hate crime charges laid in school incident

(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service Hate & Bias Crime Unit has charged two students following an investigation into a school incident in the 100 block of Greenbank Road.
On December 1st, 2022, a student created and displayed a hate symbol in the school and another student used antisemitic language and gestures. The hate symbol was viewed by other students.
The two students (who will not be named as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act) have been charged criminally. The charges include Public Incitement of Hatred, Mischief, and Criminal Harassment.
They are both set to appear in court at a later date.
We encourage anyone who has experienced a hate incident to report it to us for further investigation.
