Hit and Run on Merivale road: charges laid and police seeking witnesses
(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police is looking to speak with three witnesses that were at the Canadian Tire in the 1800 block of Merivale Road, on Friday July 31st, between 8:20 and 8:30 pm (see photo).
On Saturday, August 1st, the Collision Investigation Unit charged Ismail Abdirashid YUSUF, 19 years old, of Ottawa with Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance Causing Bodily Harm, Failure to Stop a Conveyance at an Accident Resulting in Bodily Harm, as well as a number of Highway Traffic offences.
The investigation continues and we are asking for any witnesses to contact the Ottawa Police Collision Investigation Section at 613-236-1222, ext. 2481, or by email at collisions@ottawapolice.ca.

Update: Maroon Van located- Investigation ongoing
(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police would like to advise the public that the maroon vehicle has been located and the driver has been identified.
We are also asking anyone who may have had dash camera footage of the area of Merivale Rd and Hunt Club between 8:15 pm and 8:45 pm on Friday July 31st, to contact the Collision Investigations Section by phone or email.

Collision investigation on Merivale: seeking vehicle involved
(Ottawa) –A Ottawa Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a maroon or burgundy coloured van that was involved in a Hit and Run collision with a 15 year old child, on Friday evening. The vehicle was last seen in the area of Woodfield Dr and Merivale Rd at 08:20 pm.
The vehicle is described as an older style maroon or burgundy van and may have damage to its front end. This van is also believed to have been seen driving erratically through the parking lot of the Canadian Tire store located at 1820 Merivale Rd, shortly after the collision.
We are also asking anyone who may have had dash camera footage of the area of Merivale Rd and Hunt Club between 8:15 pm and 8:45 pm to contact the Collision Unit.
