Homicide ruled out in man’s tragic death on Queen Street
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Thursday, October 17, 2024 1:48 p.m.
(Ottawa)—Emergency crews responded to reports of a person suffering from serious burns in the 100 block of Queen Street just after 6 a.m. on Monday, October 14.
The man was transported to hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The Homicide Unit took carriage of the investigation at that time to determine the circumstances that led to the suspicious death.
Following the initial stages of this investigation, we can confirm that there was no foul play in this tragic incident. The man’s next of kin have been notified.
The Ottawa Police Arson Unit will continue to work with the Office of the Fire Marshal to determine the material(s) or substance(s) origin of the fire, and the investigation can confidently confirm that no one else was involved in setting the fire that led to the man's death.
