Join us at the 9th Annual Human Rights Learning Forum

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service is pleased to host the 9th Annual Human Rights Learning Forum in recognition of International Human Rights Day.
This year’s Theme is “Collective Action for Human Rights: Discover How Partnerships Make Safer Communities.”
Date: Thursday, December 5th
Time: 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (registration begins at 8 am and the event begins at 8:30 am)
Location: St Elias Banquet Centre, 750 Ridgewood Avenue, Ottawa.
The Human Rights Learning Forum is a vital opportunity for community members and the Ottawa Police Service to come together, engage in meaningful dialogue, and deepen our understanding of human rights. This Forum will be a day-long structured learning and participation session.
We will hear from leading experts on the following topics:
- Ottawa Guiding Council for Mental Health and Addictions & Project ANCHOR
- Presentation by Community Members: Robyn Lalonde, John Hoyles, Morissa-Dalia Ellis, Marisa Moher
- Partnership Projects: Intimate Partner Violence & Indigenous Women’s Safety Table
- Indigenous Women’s Safety Table, OPS Superintendent, Heather Lachine
- Community Case Review Panel, Community member, Jessica Poloz
- Major Events: A Shared Responsibility for Human Rights and Safety for All
- Working Together to Protect Human Rights: Perspective from a Human Rights Lawyer and Professor, Community Member, Alex Neve
- Lessons and Tips from a Community Organizer, Community Member, Fred May
- Overview of Special Events Planning from the Police Liaison Team (PLT), OPS Acting Staff Sergeant Phong Le
