Man arrested and charged with uttering threats to a medical clinic

(Ottawa)— The Ottawa Police Service East Criminal Investigation Section, with assistance from the Toronto Police Service (TPS) has charged a man relating to threats made to a medical clinic in Orleans.
On October 21st, Ottawa Police responded in the 1200 block of Place D’Orleans Boulevard for threats of violence received by a medical clinic. The clinic took the threats very seriously and closed, sending all staff home. The clinic closed and was opened the following day with added security measures in place.
Over the course of the following week, the clinic continued to receive upwards of over 300 threats by email or fax.
Investigators were able to identify the man responsible for the threats, on November 8th with the assistance of the TPS, the man was arrested, and a search warrant was executed at his residence.
Mohamed SY, 18-years-old, of Toronto has been charged with:
- Uttering threats
- Harassment by threatening conduct
- Mischief under $5000
- Mischief Over $5000
- Attempted fraud
- Uttering a forged document
SY remains in custody and will appear in court today.
