Man charged after injuring By-law Officer
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Monday, October 14, 2024 11:55 a.m.
(Ottawa) – On Saturday, October 12, a By-law and Regulatory Services officer was issuing a ticket for an infraction on York Street just before 8:30 p.m.
The driver of the vehicle being ticketed was uncooperative and attempted to drive away.
In the process, the By-law officer was struck by the vehicle and suffered a broken leg.
The driver, Sarfaraz KHAN, 35 years old of Ottawa, was arrested at the scene and charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, dangerous operation and mischief to property.
They appeared in court on Sunday.
We would like to thank the bystanders and witnesses for rendering aid to the By-law officer at the scene.
