Man charged following a string of break and enters in Centretown
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Thursday, November 21, 2024, 3:14 pm
(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service Break and Enter Unit has charged a man following an investigation into multiple break and enters in the Centretown neighbourhood dating back to August.
Since August at least four houses were broken into where the thief targeted jewelry, electronics and currency. Through investigation police were able to identify the suspect and arrest him.
Yesterday, a search warrant was executed for his residence where further evidence was located, including some of the stolen items.
Derek GRAY, 59-years-old, of Ottawa, has been charged with:
- Breaking and entering (residential) x 4
- Mischief under $5000 x 4
- Possession of break and enter instruments
GRAY remains in custody and the investigation continues.
