Man charged in Daly Avenue Arson
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Friday, October 2, 2020 11:40am
(Ottawa) – Frontline Patrol Officers responded to a break and enter in the 100 block of Daly Avenue on October 1st.
At approximately 3:00 am, a man broke a window in a residential building, entered the building and poured gasoline on the floor. Witnesses were woken up by the sound of glass breaking and saw the suspect leave the area.
At approximately 4:00 am, another witness woke up to the smell of gasoline and called 911.
Responding officers located the suspect and arrested him without incident at approximately 5:00 am.
The Ottawa Police Arson Unit charged Kivi BAR WARI, 36 years old, of Ottawa with:
- Causing fire with disregard for human life
- Possession of incendiary material for arson
- Breaking and Entering into a dwelling-house with intent
- Mischief
- Failure to comply with a release order x2
He is scheduled to appear in court today.
