Man charged with hate-motivated assault in Hintonburg

(Ottawa)— The Ottawa Police Service has charged a man following an assault in the 1100 block of Wellington Street earlier this month.

On March 11th at approximately 5:30 pm, a man began to yell at a woman walking down the street, using anti-Asian slurs. He then proceeded to assault her.

The woman was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Kevin BELISLE, 30 years old of Ottawa was charged with Assault and Mischief.

We encourage anyone who has experienced a hate incident to report it for further investigation.
