Man charged with luring – police seeking other victims

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) has arrested and charged an Ottawa man following an investigation that began in early May.
On Thursday July 11th, the ICE Unit, with the assistance of the Surveillance Unit, Forensic Identification Section, Digital Forensic Section, West Neighbourhood Resource Team, Tactical Unit and Frontline Patrol Officers executed a warrant at a residence in the West end of Ottawa, where the man was arrested.
Michael BEGIN, 56-year-old, of Ottawa, was charged with:
- Telecommunication with a person under the age of 18 for a specific criminal offence
- Make written child pornography
- Transmit sexually explicit material to a person under 16 years
He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
Investigators believe there could be more victims. BEGIN used the following screen names:
- Mic1067
- MicBee67
The investigation is continuing, if you or someone you know under the age of 18 has been communicating online with BEGIN, please contact police.
