Marine, Dive and Trail officers will be on trails and designated areas checking for safety and compliance this fall
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Friday, October 8, 2021 11:47am
(Ottawa) – Throughout the fall, officers from the Marine, Dive and Trail (MDT) Unit will be watching for All-Terrain-Vehicle (ATV) riders on trails and roadways and hunters in designated areas within the city to ensure both safety and compliance.
“We will be checking ATV riders and hunters for licencing, documentation and ensuring they are not in prohibited areas,” said Sgt. Walt Lushman of the Ottawa Police Service of the Marine, Dive and Trail Unit.
Sgt. Lushman reminds everyone to respect private property and for your safety and that of others, ensure you understand and follow all regulations around ATV riding and hunting.
To report an infraction, call the Ottawa Police at 613-236-1222 so a police communicator can assess the situation and determine how to respond. If there is immediate danger, don’t hesitate to call 911.
