Ongoing Police and Fire Operation on Renaud Road
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Thursday, March 25, 2021 1:15pm
(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service and Ottawa Fire Services remain on scene at a Renaud Road address where a cannabis grow operation and clandestine laboratory was discovered earlier this week.
On March 23rd, Ottawa Police and Ottawa Fire responded to a structure fire in the 5000 block of Renaud Road at 8:55am. Initial assessment of the location indicates that the structure housed an indoor cannabis grow operation and a sophisticated clandestine extraction laboratory.
Clandestine extraction laboratories employ equipment and chemicals that can pose a significant risk to personal and public safety.
The Ottawa Police Drug Unit/Clandestine Laboratory Team are working with Ottawa Fire Services including HAZMAT, Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office, Health Canada and other partners to investigate, assess and dismantle the operation.
The investigation and Police/Fire operation is ongoing and road closures remain in effect in the vicinity.
