Person of interest to identify in suspicious incident at Rideau Centre
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Tuesday, July 4, 2023 2:00 pm
(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service Central Investigations Unit is investigating a suspicious man involved in incident that occurred on March 29 at the Rideau Centre.
At approximately 4:00 pm a suspicious man made multiple attempts to engage a teenager in conversation while she was walking in the mall.
The teenager was not injured and able to contact mall security. The man left the area before security arrived.
The man is described as 5’9” (175 cm), thin build, approximately 25-30 years old. He was seen wearing all black clothing, white running shoes, and a black baseball hat, carrying a brown bag. He may also speak with an accent.
The Ottawa Police Service would like to remind parents to talk to their children about safety and calling 911 or going to a trusted adult for help when they feel unsafe.
