Please join Ottawa Police activities during Crime Prevention Week
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Friday, November 3, 2023 2:35 pm
(Ottawa) – Police services across the province are participating in Crime Prevention Week, in collaboration with the Ontario Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services and the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP).
This annual awareness week highlights how residents and police can work together to enhance the safety of their communities. This year’s Crime Prevention Week is set to begin on November 5th and extend through the 11th.
The central message of this initiative, “Awareness, Engagement, Prevention”, will guide the activities planned throughout the week. Police services will emphasize to the public that everyone has the right to feel safe in their homes, schools, workplaces and communities.
During this awareness week, Ottawa Police Service (OPS) officers will connect with city residents, offering guidance on ways to reduce crime, increase safety and promote crime prevention within our neighborhoods.
Various activities will be carried out around the city, and we extend an invitation to you to participate. Stay updated by following us on social media, and join us by sharing how you are observing Crime Prevention Week by using the hashtag #CPWeek2023.
Here are some key events and highlights for the week:
- November 6: City Hall, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
- November 7: Fraud and Scams Presentation at Seniors Home, 10:00 am
- November 9: Information session at Bayshore Mall from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.
