Revised: Two men charged with robbery offences after a robbery that ended in a collision and foot pursuit

(Ottawa) – Two Ottawa men are facing several criminal charges following a gun point robbery on Thursday afternoon in the area of Rideau Street and King Edward Avenue.

At about 4:15 p.m., a 22-year-old man was approached by a man he didn’t know, who produced a gun and demanded his money and a pair of newly purchased shoes. The man fled in a Dodge Charger.

The victim flagged down a passing patrol officer, who saw the Charger driving at a high rate of speed south on King Edward Ave.  

The patrol officer attempted to catch up to the fleeing vehicle but as the Charger turned down Greenfield Avenue it collided with two vehicles. Both suspects fled the collision scene. Fortunately, no one was injured in the collision.

Patrol officers were able to apprehend the driver of the Charger after a short foot pursuit. The passenger was also located nearby with the assistance of the Ottawa Police K9 unit.

Officers at the collision scene recovered a loaded 9 mm handgun, the stolen property and money.

• Failure to stop at accident
• Dangerous Operation of a motor vehicle
• Pointing a firearm
• Flight while pursued by police

Mckenny PERRIN, 26-years-old, of Ottawa

• Robbery with Firearm
• Conspiracy to Commit
• Possession of a Firearm without license
• Possession of firearm / Unauthorized
• Possess a firearm in a motor vehicle
• Possess a loaded restricted firearm
• Careless use of a firearm
• Possession weapons dangerous
• Possession restricted weapon
• Obstructing police

Both are in custody and are scheduled to appear in court later today.
