Shooting investigation in Rural West; police seeking witnesses

(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service West Criminal Investigations Section is investigating incidents that occurred in the West end overnight. At approximately 12:45 am police responded to reports of gunshots heard in the 5000 block of First Line Road.

Bullet holes were later located in a window of a residence in the area. One victim, with injuries not from a shooting, was located and transported to hospital.

During the course of the investigation, a vehicle that had been involved in a single motor vehicle accident was located in the nearby area. A lone deceased male was located near this vehicle, and the cause of death has not yet been identified. Also located nearby were two firearms.

The investigation is ongoing to determine if these two incidents are related.
