Shooting Investigations: One Person Arrested

(Ottawa)—The Ottawa Police Service Guns and Gangs Unit is investigating two shootings that occurred Saturday evening.
At about 5:30 pm, police were called to Morisset and Caldwell Avenues for reports of gun fire. There were no injuries reported and this shooting is still under investigation.
At 5:55 pm, police responded to a second shooting at Ledbury and Banff Avenues that left one man injured. He was taken to hospital for emergency surgery.
Officers quickly arrived on scene to close down the area. As a result, responding officers arrested one man at scene and a handgun was seized.
Abdulmuti ELMI, 28 years old, has been charged with multiple charges including Assault with a weapon, Aggravated assault, Discharging a firearm and Possession for the purpose of trafficking.
There is no information at this time that the two shootings are linked.
