Suspect to identify in Rideau St robbery
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Tuesday, March 19, 2024 1:05 pm
(Ottawa) —The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit is seeking public assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a commercial robbery in the 1-100 block of Rideau Street on March 13th.
At approximately 6:40 pm, the lone suspect attended a jewelry store, selected an item, and attempted to leave the store. When staff members confronted the suspect, he threatened them and fled the store on foot.
The staff members did not sustain any physical injuries.
The suspect is described as an Indigenous male, 30-40 years of age, approximately 5’10” (178 cm) tall, slim build and long black hair. At the time of the incident, he wore a light gray Champion hoodie with logos all around, blue jeans, and a black and gray backpack.
