Update: Man charged with two unprovoked assaults against women

(Ottawa) – Ottawa Police Service East Criminal Investigation detectives charged an Ottawa man in relation to two unprovoked assaults on September 13 and 16.
Ahmed MOUYED, age 28, is charged with two counts each:
Aggravated Assault
Assault with a Weapon
Possess Weapon Dangerous
And one count of Wear disguise
He is appearing in Show Cause court on October 1, 2022.

Police are advising public about two unprovoked assaults against women
(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service is investigating two incidents of unprovoked assaults against women last week.
The first incident took place on September 13 at about 6 pm in the area of Cahill Drive and McCarthy Road. Two women walking southbound on Cahill Drive when they were approached from behind by a man. A 58-year-old woman was hit on the head. She suffered minor injuries.
The second assault happened on September 16 at about 8 pm in the area of Uplands Drive and Bennett St. A 29-year-old woman was walking on the sidewalk when a man came towards from a grassy area. When he reached her, he struck her. She received minor injuries.
Investigators believe the same person may be responsible for both assaults.
The suspect is described as a male, 20 – 30 years old, 5’7-5’9 (170 – 175 cm) tall,
skinny build, long black curly hair past his shoulders, worn in a ponytail. At the time he was wearing a dark baseball hat white shirt, dark shorts, and white running shoes.
“We are asking the public to be beware of their surroundings and report anything suspicious to police through 911,” says Sgt. Shane Henderson of the East Criminal Investigations Unit.
