Update: man wanted in relation to Weldon Drive shooting

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Guns and Gangs Unit is asking for the public’s help in locating a man responsible for the May 1^st shooting that occurred in the 2000 block of Weldon Drive. 

Brandon DESJARLAIS, 20 years old of Ottawa is wanted for the following offences:

• Unauthorized possession of a firearm
• Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
• Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm
• Possession of a firearm obtained by crime
• Discharge firearm being reckless as to the life or safety of another person
• Aggravated assault
• Assault with a weapon 

DESJARLAIS is described as an Indigenous man, 5’10” (178cm) and 150lbs (68kg) with shoulder-length black hair (see photo).

Shooting investigation on Weldon Drive - police seeking witnesses

(Ottawa) – Frontline officers responded to a shooting in the 2000 block of Weldon Drive on Friday, May 1st.

At approximately 9:43pm, a man was shot while inside a moving vehicle at the intersection of St-Laurent Boulevard and Lemieux Street by another passenger in the vehicle.  The driver immobilized his vehicle in front of a house located on the 2000 block of Weldon Drive where the injured man exited.  Both the driver and the suspect left the scene before officers arrived.

The victim that was transported to the hospital suffered life-threatening injuries. The victim is stable but remains in serious condition.

The Guns and Gangs Unit is looking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the incident.
