Update: Stolen truck and trailer result in arrest

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service has charged a man in relation to the theft of a vehicle that led police in a short pursuit on Monday evening.
On March 16 at approximately 10:26pm, police received a call for a motor vehicle and attached trailer that had just been stolen in the West end of the City. Frontline officers located the stolen vehicle and trailer driving erratically on Carling Avenue at Dow’s Lake Road and engaged in a pursuit.
The fleeing vehicle struck another motorist near the intersection of Bronson and Gladstone Avenues and continued without stopping.
A short time after, the driver lost control of the vehicle, collided with a light standard before finally ending his spree in the storefront of a business located in the 600 block of Somerset Street West. No one was injured and police were able to apprehend the suspect without incident.
Peter SALOMONIE, 21 years old, of Ottawa was charged with:
- Theft of a motor vehicle
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 X2
- Flight while pursued by a peace officer
- Dangerous operation of a conveyance
- Obstruct peace officer
- Failure to comply with a probation order
- Operating a conveyance while impaired
- Operating a conveyance while prohibited
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
He is scheduled to appear in Court later today.

Motor vehicle collision road closure Bronson/Somerset St W
(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service responded to a motor vehicle collision in the area of Bronson Ave and Somerset St W. A vehicle struck and disabled a traffic standard. local road closures are in effect, duration unknown.
Further details cannot be released at this time as the incident remains under investigation.
